ELBA News - Fall 2010

Our next ELBA meeting will be held on Thursday, September 16th 2010 at Unity Presbyterian Church. Light refreshments will be served. The doors will open at 6:30PM and the meeting will get under way at 7:00PM. This meeting will feature a presentation by Randy Williams from the Lincoln County Planning Department speaking on the East Lincoln Development District. In addition, Ron Johnston from the Metrolina YMCA will provide an update on the construction and planned grand opening of Sally’s Y. We will also have a first look at the East Lincoln Community Map that Lou Amico and his committee are preparing for this area. You won't want to miss this informative meeting on the future plans for the East Lincoln Community.

Forum CrowdThe East Lincoln Betterment Association is also busy planning our next Political Forum. This event is slated for Thursday, October 21st 2010 at Unity Presbyterian Church. The doors will open at 5:30PM for a barbecue dinner. Lake-Shore Barbecue will provide dinner which includes their outstanding barbecue, buns, slaw, baked beans and tea. The dinner will cost $8 per person, kids half price. The debate and panel discussion will get under way at 7:00M. Our Primary Forum co- sponsored by ELBA and the Denver Area Business Association brought in the biggest crowd ELBA has seen to date, with standing room only. We are hopeful October will result in another packed house. We expect to hear from the candidates running for the School Board, County Commission, and Sheriff’s Office in the upcoming November elections. The barbecue, alone, should be a compelling reason to join us, but the great food coupled with hot political questions should make this an extraordinary event. Don’t miss this great opportunity to enjoy an exceptional meal and learn more about our future political leaders.

ELBA community meetings are always free and open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate.

Committee Members for ELBA’s Christmas Parade have been meeting and plans are moving forward to bring East Lincoln its second annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 4, 2010. Sponsorships and donations are already coming in for this year’s event. The 24ft Christmas tree donated by Bill Cline, Owner of Cedar Lake Tree Farm, will soon have a place to light up the East Lincoln Community. If you would like more information about the parade route or want to know more about how you can become a sponsor for this year's parade you may contact Maeneen Klein at maeneen@yahoo.com.

As mentioned above, members of the ELBA Map Committee preparing to bring Denver its first attraction locator map displaying local businesses and landmarks in East Lincoln. ELBA Map PromotionThis project is a way for ELBA to increase its visibility in the community while giving local merchants an opportunity to showcase their businesses. Local businesses will be contacted within the next few weeks for an opportunity to become part of this exciting project. With all of the newcomers moving to this part of the lake members of the ELBA Membership Committee with the help of Lou Amico at LA Management Marketing thought this was an important benefit for the community. Right now the committee is working on the design and creation of the map, which will include Historic Landmarks, Libraries, Hospitals, Sports Facilities, Parks and other attractions of interest to our East Lincoln Community.
